Elizabth Taylor and Richard Burton, A Love Affair Like No Other...

“She was so extraordinarily beautiful that I nearly laughed out loud. She … [was] famine, fire, destruction and plague … the only true begetter. Her breasts were apocalyptic, they would topple empires before they withered … her body was a miracle of construction … She was unquestionably gorgeous. She was lavish. She was a dark, unyielding largesse. She was, in short, too bloody much … Those huge violet blue eyes… had an odd glint… Aeons passed, civilizations came and went while these cosmic headlights examined my flawed personality. Every pockmark on my face became a crater of the moon.”
Richard Burton's first impression of Elizabeth Taylor.

"I cannot imagine life without him. I love him. I adore him. Our love is so deep that I don’t give a goddamn what people think or say about us. If you have a real relationship with your lover, you can do anything and make it magic."
Elizabeth Taylor on Richard Burton.

To have the good fortune to experience such a love...It wasn't perfect, they fought all the time...But You can see the love in their eyes...During their years together, Richard wrote more than forty love letters to the beautiful Elizabeth he was so infatuated with her...

“I am forever punished by the gods for being given the fire and trying to put it out. The fire, of course, is you.”
A quote from a love-letter written by Richard Burton to Liz Taylor.

The passionate love affair between Taylor and Burton was littered with booze, arguments, scandalous behavior and his expensive gifts, seemingly bought on a whim... Including the Taylor-Burton Diamond (the most flawless diamond in the world, weighing a staggering 69.42 carats!) and the 'La Peregrina' pearl which once belonged to to Queen Mary I of England...

They were married twice and divorced twice. Sadly their ever enduring love couldn't stand against all the odds, they couldn't live with or with out each other... They appeared in 10 movies together  like 'Cleopatra' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?'.

Elizabeth Taylor was actually very witty and used to make fun of herself all the time...
British star Joan Collins recalls the moment Princess Margaret dared to tell Taylor she thought her beloved Krupp diamond ring was “vulgar”! So Taylor persuaded the royal to try it on and said: “Not so vulgar now, is it?”

"In a Heartbeat!" Elizabeth Taylor's 2009 response to if she'd marry Richard Burton a third time even after he'd been gone 25 years...
