Setting The Record Straight
After years of tabloid rumors about
her being pregnant, Jennifer Aniston sets the record straight in the January 2015 issue of Allure Magazine, saying, "I don’t like [the
pressure] that people put on me, on women—that you’ve failed yourself as
a female because you haven’t procreated. I don’t think it’s fair. You
may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you
aren’t mothering—dogs, friends, friends’ children."
I don't know why her comment stroke a chord with me, maybe because I see myself as the Jen of my tribe. I am not married, I am childless, and I am fine! Hello It's 2015. Not every woman is meant to be a mom, even though half the mothers I know are just moms by name not occupation. Ironically enough a few days ago, my mom told me a story of a 'young' mom (whom I personally know!) that wants to put her child in a boarding school because and I quote, "I'm too tired!!!!"
Ladies, don't start popping out babies just to have done it. Be ready, it's a huge responsibility.
