Every man I knew went to bed with Gilda... and woke up with me.

I've recently watched a documentary on Rita Hayworth and felt so compelled to search for her best quotes to try to get inside her pretty little head! The result is marvelous. Here's the best of Rita:

Every man I have ever known has fallen in love with Gilda and awakened with me.

I haven't had everything from life. I've had too much.
[when asked what had held up her dress in "Gilda"] Two things.
I never really thought of myself as a sex goddess; I felt I was more a comedian who could dance.

All I wanted was just what everybody else wants, you know, to be loved.

We are all tied to our destiny and there is no way we can liberate ourselves.

Who wouldn't prefer having breakfast in bed to getting up at the crack of dawn and having a cup of coffee in a studio makeup department?

I guess the only jewels of my life were the pictures I made with Fred Astaire. When he made two films for Columbia, he asked for me. Fred knew I was a dancer. He knew what all the fools at Columbia didn’t know. Without him I probably wouldn’t have done either of these films.
I don’t regret anything. Life has taught me that if you want something, you have to do everything to get it. In the end, that seems to be the only right thing.

I think all women have a certain elegance about them which is destroyed when they take off their clothes.
We are all tied to our destiny and there is no way we can liberate ourselves.

When I look back on my marriages, or the breakups, sure I know the pain I went through, but that's part of life and it has its own value.

Whatever you write about me, don’t make it sad.
